By reading the first part of Lysistrata, I can tell that this Greek play will consist of a lot of feminism. Lysistrata, the main character, shows diversity within her traits because of her availability to be feminist around the women and still converse and be respected by the men.
An example of Lysistrata's feminism is how she gathers all the women from Sparta and Athens to compose a scheme to end the Peloponesian war. Before gathering these women, Lysistrat holds a conversation with Kleonike about whether she should do it or not. Kleonike tells her she shouldn't because women are only good for sitting pretty and doing all the house work. Lysistrata takes Kleonike's thoughts into consideration but then continues to carry out her original plan. Lysistrata and other female feminists are tired of their husbands leaving them to fight in wars and being mistreated and under appreciated by the males in their lives. They decide that in order to get what they want they must take away the act of sex in their relationships because that is something the men lusted for. They knew that that was one part of the relationship they could control. At first some of the women were feeling that they could not give up sex either. They were willing to sacrifice anything else but sex. They felt they needed it just as much as the males did and it probably relieved a lot of stress and tensions out of their relationships. Lysistrata stuck to her guns though and convinced all the females to participate so that there could be some peace in their lives. This shows that Lysistrata is very head strong and is consistent in her efforts to get what she desires.
This could relate to Emilia in Othello because, she is so stuck on making Iago happy that she will lie and deceive others just to get what she wants out of them. For example she betrays her loyal friend Desdemona by stealing her handkerchief she knew her husband could not wait to get his hands on. Of course she did not know it would lead her best friend to her death bed but that's the goal of tragedies.
This topic of gender roles and feminism is still very relevant to today. Women are still not treated as equally as men are in some aspects. For example women in the law enforcement programs and criminal justice programs are not taken as serious as other men are. I feel that women in the military also have a hard time finding respect from males even though they presevered the same training as the males did. Things are beginning to change in America though. Women are tired of being treated as second class citizens and are standing up for their rights. If you look at a lot of blogs and social media websites you will see a lot of commenting and ranting from women who want their voices to be heard. There is also a woman running for president which I'm sure many feminists around America are excited about.

I agree feminism plays an important role. Lysistrata assembles the women of every city in order for the women of the society to have their opinion recognized that they could make a difference. This is a stereotype society where the women a re only good for sex, child raising , and cooking.
